#Beanboozled Challenge

We had just returned from Touring Week (week of vacation between our January Term and the start of Spring Semester here at Gustavus), when our very own Junior Coursey Edwards came strolling into our office proclaiming she had a challenge for our coaching staff to do.  We were open to participating in a challenge and asked her to further explain.  She said it was the #beanboozled challenge.  Now in hindsight we should have asked many more questions, however agreed to participating in the challenge prior to learning any of the details.

We completed the challenge today, Thursday, February 11th, 2016.  Well... let us clarify, we participated, struggled, barely survived... and now two hours later we are still experiencing the after affects.  Mostly from the three JellyBean tiebreaker to settle the challenge.

What is the actual BeanBoozled Challenge?

Courtesy of the Jelly Belly website this is how they describe the challenge:

Jelly Belly's wildest collection dares you to compare some of our tastiest, most popular flavors with our craziest ones. But here's the catch - you won't know which ones are which!

The black Licorice bean looks exactly like the Skunk Spray bean! Sweet, luscious Caramel Corn might also be Moldy Cheese. You may think you're tasting our world-famous Buttered Popcorn bean, but what you'll be biting into could actually be Rotten Egg. The only way to find out what beans you're getting is to eat them!

The Jelly Belly BeanBoozled® collection currently contains 10 colors of beans, and 20 flavors (10 "real" ones and 10...well...different ones). You can make a fun, and somewhat hair-raising, game out of it by giving your friends beans of the same color and seeing which flavors they get. But don't be a chicken - you have to participate too. Just try not to get BeanBoozled®!

What is the GAC Women's Soccer Version?

Head Coach Laura Burnett-Kurie and Assistant Coach Benton Frayne participated in a head to head competition.  Spin the dial and try all 10 flavors.  If you successfully chewed and swallowed the Jelly Belly you were awarded one point.  The coach with the most points after all 10 "flavors" won.  If the coaches were tied they would have a three Jelly Belly mash-up, sudden death finish.

How do you think we did?!?!

BONUS MATERIAL:

Three of our players, Junior Jana Elliott, Sophomore Hannah Sturtz and First Year Emily Skogseth all decided to dabble in the BeanBoozled Challenge.  As their one Jelly Belly selection they chose Peach vs. Barf.  One came out on the Peachy side, the other two...not so much...
