Senior Goalkeeper Jess Richert undoubtedly earns Player of the Week this week for her two stellar performances in Wednesday's 1-0 win against Hamline and Saturday's narrow 0-1 loss versus Bethel. In both games, Jess came up with some tremendous saves, ensuring a tight game for her team.
After a Gustie goal in the first half of Wednesday's game, Hamline brought an onslaught of offense to the second half. She was aggressive in her box, and relentless off her line, finding the ball through numerous scrums and melee's to smother it without doubt. Jess recorded 11 saves to round out her brillant performance.
Saturday's game was no different. She was menacing and fierce; coming off her line to scoop up any ball in the box. She made a few diving, sprawling saves that left Bethel dumbfounded and the Gusties exhilarated. Parrying balls over the net and wide, Jess' feet were quick and light, and her hands were steady.
