Gustavus Ranked Highly By Niche (Especially for Food!)
The College is 58th on the list of Best Liberal Arts Colleges and 20th overall for Best College Food in America.
Gustavus Adolphus College ranks 58th on Niche’s newest list of the Best Liberal Arts Colleges in America and 20th overall for Best College Food in America. The 2017 lists were released this week by Niche,
which provides a wide variety of college and university rankings based
on data from the U.S. Department of Education as well as college reviews
and survey responses directly from students.
In addition to the Best Liberal Arts Colleges and Best College Food rankings, Gustavus scores highly on the website’s lists of Best Colleges with No Application Fee (26th), Best Christian Colleges (18th), Colleges with the Best Academics (183rd), and the comprehensive list of the Best Colleges in America, which includes public and private institutions of all sizes from across the country (183rd out of 1,647).
Within the state of Minnesota, Gustavus ranks first for food, second for best value, second for nursing, second for Greek Life, and fourth overall among private colleges.
Perhaps the most important ranking among students is the Best College Food in America list. In recent years, the Gustavus Dining Service has scored high praise for its on-campus dining program, which was recently named a “Power Player” in an extensive feature by Food Management magazine.
“It’s simple, really. We open a dialogue with students about what they want to eat and when they want to eat it. Once two-way conversations happen, we prepare good-tasting food and serve it with a smile,” Associate Vice President and Director of Dining Service Steve Kjellgren explained. “The Dining Service team – from student staff to our cooks, bakers, dishwashers, and supervisors – takes their role in producing an excellent student dining experience to heart.”
Niche’s rankings are compiled after examining data from the U.S. Department of Education, the U.S. Census, and other government sources along with over 100 million reviews and survey responses from students, parents, and residents. Their data team uses advanced algorithms and statistical techniques to compare, score, and connect millions of data points to analyze U.S. schools. According to the organization, more than half of all college-bound high school students use Niche to research colleges and universities.
